Weekend on Lake Garda: The Vittoriale degli Italiani

A weekend on Lake Garda can become unforgettable. Owing to a variety of tourist attractions the largest lake in our country can offer all kinds of recreation. If you have made up your mind to spend a weekend on the lake under the sign of culture, the Vittoriale, by all means, will be a real must. Located in Gardone Riviera, it was the residence of a poet Gabriele D'Annunzio in earlier times. The villa, called the Prioria, has a rich library of books, several rooms, including a music-room  named after Gasparo da Salò, the inventor of a modern violin. 




Besides, the villa contains a great number of relics, statues, paintings, to name but a few. In addition to the house there are gardens, places of the poet’s meditation that are one of the main sightseeing attractions in the residence. Our weekend on Lake Garda will continue with a visit to the military museum which celebrates, according to the poet’s will, his heroic deeds. In the most spectacular point of the place there is a mausoleum, a monument to those who died in the war, Gabriele D'Annunzio is also buried in this mausoleum.
During our weekend on Lake Garda we will make an emotional visit to this house-museum that will also allow us taking a delight of the beauty of the place where it is located. The entire littoral area of Lake Garda is, actually, rich in the most picturesque small towns that simply must be visited.
